About Scott Logan

A veteran musician and music educator, Scott has served in a variety of roles in churches and schools in Georgia, Missouri, Illinois, and Kansas. His full-time music education career began in Kansas in the fall of 2009 after serving churches in youth and worship ministry.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music (piano) from Brewton-Parker Christian University, Mt. Vernon, Georgia where he served as choir organist and president/student conductor and studied piano, organ, voice, and handbells. Scott also holds the Master of Music in Choral Conducting from Missouri State University, Springfield, Missouri. After moving to Kansas to begin his education career, he attended Fort Hays State University for teacher licensure.

As a Kansas music educator, Scott has taught music theory, piano, and 4-12 vocal music and has directed choirs in Pratt, Nickerson-South Hutchinson, and Haven school districts. His career has also included directing/assistant-directing eleven high school musicals and receiving numerous Jester Nominations and Awards from Music Theatre Wichita. His choirs have appeared twice at the Kansas Music Educators Association (KMEA) State In-Service Workshop, and he also appeared as an accompanist with a third ensemble. Additionally, his choirs have performed with college and university ensembles, professional symphony orchestras, and on stage at Carnegie Hall with Francisco Núñez.

Outside of public education, Scott has directed the Reno Choral Society's "Salute to America" concert since 2019 and has also sung in the Wichita Symphony Chorus. As an accompanist, he has played for both vocal and instrumental soloists at contests, festivals, recitals, auditions, NATS competitions, and various public performances and has played in the pit for several musicals. He has appeared as organist in productions of John Rutter's Requiem and Dan Forrest's Requiem for the Living, and he currently sings with the Wichita Chamber Chorale.

As a choral director, Scott has arranged numerous pop songs for his choirs over the past fifteen years and has written several original compositions. He is currently devoting more time and energy to composing, arranging, and publishing.

Scott belongs to the National Association for Music Education, the Kansas Music Educators Association, the American Choral Directors Association, the Kansas Choral Directors Association, the Kansas Exemplary Educators Network, and the Kansas National Education Association. He was a Kansas Teacher of the Year Regional Nominee for 2019-20.

Scott's wife Angela recently transitioned from full-time worship ministry to teaching Ethics and Philosophy at Hutchinson Community College. They live in Haven, Kansas and are proud parents of four wonderful young adults with two bonus daughters in the mix. When they're not teaching or making music, chances are that coffee, cupcakes, or macarons are on the agenda.
